I have been a doula since 2013!
For over a decade, I have been involved in birth work in many different ways, in several countries and in varying roles (doula and birth assistant). Alongside supporting individual families, I have volunteered with non profit organisations and charities, ran community groups, supported the mentoring of doulas and advocated for perinatal health within legislative and healthcare systems, locally, nationally and globally. As I always say, not all birthwork happens in the birthroom! Activism and advocacy is really important work for doulas as it ensures that all people are held in their right to a safe pregnancy, birth and parenting experience.
